NZ Inland Revenue Business Transformation Programme

New Zealand’s Inland Revenue Department (IR) is responsible for collecting revenue and administering various social support programs. With an aging mainframe and outdated processes, IR needed to transform the country’s tax system. Complicating matters was the challenge of the need to build and deploy a new system in stages while keeping the old one operational. Accenture took on the co-existence challenge, enabling the new and old system to run seamlessly side-by-side, and delivering a business transformation experience.

As a result, IR is experiencing greater efficiencies and reduced handling costs. One of the more significant benefits of the transformation has been delivered by analytics, whereby the public can better understand their tax responsibilities from the beginning.
